In a significant move underscoring Saudi Arabia’s growing stature as a global sports hub, SMC Group, the exclusive commercial partner of the Saudi Football Federation (SAFF), has signed a strategic agreement with SUM KM Sport to host the 2025 Saudi Super Cup in Hong Kong. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 19 to 23, featuring the prominent Saudi clubs Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadsiah, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr.
The agreement was signed at SMC’s headquarters in Riyadh by Mr. Mohamed Al-Kereiji, Chairman of SMC Group, and Mr. Andy HAO, CEO of Leftion Sports, acting on behalf of SUM KM Sport. The signing was witnessed by Mr. Naeim Al-Bakr, SAFF Board Member and Chair of the Competitions Committee.
Hosting the Saudi Super Cup in Hong Kong continues the competition’s strategy of staging select editions outside Saudi Arabia to build international partnerships that boost the global visibility of Saudi football and export its sports content to new markets. This initiative aligns with SMC Group’s efforts to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by connecting global stakeholders with the rapidly evolving Saudi sports market, which is experiencing remarkable growth and development.
The matches will be held at Hong Kong Stadium, which accommodates 40,000 spectators and serves as the home ground for the Hong Kong national team. Originally built in 1953 and renovated in 1994, the stadium is a premier venue in the region.
Mr. Ibrahim Al-Kassim, Secretary-General of the Saudi Football Federation, described the 2025 Saudi Super Cup in Hong Kong as a “game-changing milestone” for the tournament, which has already gained international recognition through its successful editions held abroad. He emphasized that this step reflects the Federation’s commitment to strengthening fruitful partnerships with national and international entities, fostering financial sustainability, and advancing its developmental goals.
Mr. Mohamed Al-Khereiji highlighted that the agreement is part of SMC Group’s ongoing approach to forge strategic collaborations that elevate Saudi sports events and support the Kingdom’s ambition to expand its leadership on the global sports stage. He thanked SUM KM Sport for their cooperation and expressed optimism about delivering an exceptional edition of the Saudi Super Cup that showcases the evolution of Saudi sports and paves the way for innovative initiatives in this vital sector.

The upcoming tournament will follow the format introduced in 2023, featuring four teams — Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadsiah, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr. A draw will be held to determine the matchups due to the repeated participation of at least one team among the four.
